Retail Sales Rose 2.7% in August

U.S. retail rose 2.7% in August, exceeding Wall Street's expectations for a 2% jump, as car dealers got a big boost from the government car-rebate program and other merchants fared well, too. Excluding autos, all other retail sales increased 1.1%.
